Baltic Sea Bound!

Ahoy Landlubbers! The Captain and his mate are back on board ‘Ocean Pearl’ located in historic St. Katharine’s Dock ~ London, England.

The photo above is a terrifc aerial shot that was taken by an Englishman in a small cabin cruiser that was tied up next to us last weekend. He had one of those drones…which I watched him fire up and send way up super high in the air…and, here’s the result! A terrific aerial shot of St Katharine’s Dock…we are the third boat in in the far top left corner. Along the left side of the marina basin are several historic barges tied up. Note – In the bottom left corner you can see the Tower Bridge struts…Neat-O!!

Of late, we’ve taken some time to tour the countless sights here in and around London as well as get the boat ship shape to set off for another season of high seas adventure.

Dear friends and fellow mariners, Pat and Wayne Davis who have been so helpful in the past on several ocean passages will be joining us shortly to cruise the Baltic Sea. Our plans are to cruise with the Ocean Cruising Club Baltic Rally covering some 2000 nautical miles in over 8 weeks starting in Germany and covering Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, St Petersburg, Russia and Sweden.

Stay tuned…it’s time the ‘Pearl’ got off the dock!

Cheers!

Over n Out ~

Tina & Braun

**Note this incredible footage taken by the same drone over the marina and nearby London Tower, London Tower Bridge and lovely views up and down the Thames River!

Beautiful day in London, one of the few one is likely to enjoy this time of year. The Baltic tour sounds terrific, especially the Scandinavian ports of call. If you haven’t seen the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, outstanding!

    Ahoy Braun and Tina!
We will be cruising the high seas ourselves soon!
Finally we will try our sea legs – OK very big boat, but still 😉
John, Katie and I are flying to London this July, then to Venice where after hanging out on the Grand Canal we will cruise around the Mediterranean. Our ships final port will be Barcelona.
Katie is starting middle school this coming Fall! So we figured at age 11 she will remember this trip and since she still likes hanging out with us, might as well take advantage before the teen years set in!
I know how much you travel and welcome any tips on any of these ports of call, Athens, Kusadasi (Turkey), Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Malta.
Love the Ariel shot very cool! 2000 nautical miles in 8 weeks how exciting!
Landlubbers no more! ( well for 12 nights we won’t be landlubbers 😉 but all and all we will have a month off to explore Europe – anchors away!!!

Ahoy Landlubbers! The Captain and his mate are back on board ‘Ocean Pearl’ located in historic St. Katharine’s Dock London, England.

    Cheers!

I was just in the Costco parking lot and marveled at a woman driving a Suburban. I thought “How on earth does she get around in that huge tank?” Then I saw the Ocean Pearl.. HOLY MACKEREL, girl!!! I’ve always been so impressed with the fact that you can navigate the seas but never gave much thought to the LOGISTICS of tooling around in a boat (or is it a ship, or liner?) that size!!! DANG GIRRRRRRRRRRL! You and Braun are GOOD! I am in awe. I am white knuckled backing out of a parking space in my Outback! And I do believe I’ve shared that I am “directionally challenged” so I know I’d be on an Island with the Skipper and Maryanne if I EVER ventured out on the water and was “behind the wheel.”
Have a blast, be careful, and be a lamb and pick me up a t-shirt from EVERY port!!!
Oh, and that video taken by the drone was the coolest!

Funny I was just thinking about you two and Ocean Pearl, as I had a chance to talk to Milt and Judy Baker and they had told me that you were going to be involved in the Baltic Ralley. Abby and I also had the chance to visit with George and Marcie and Gulliver Lacock before they left to get hauled out in Maine to prepare for their Icelandic adventure. It’s great to hear from you two, have fun and be safe, and keep us updated as Abby and I are living vicariously through you all! Best wishes and smooth sailing – Jay Brown

Hi Tina,I love getting the Pearl updates!!   But my current email address at  vacoxmail will close for good soon. Please update  my address to bgarreau1@g…, this shouldn’t change for years! How exciting that you will be doing the Baltics! My parents had an amazing cruise there a few years ago, what an exciting place to be!Thanks for keeping in touch! We are really enjoying  Warrenton. While closing the practice was really heartbreaking, this has turned out to be a great move. We love it here, we love our new house, I love my new job, I am thrilled to be an employee and to not be responsible for running the entire show! I am on call one weekend out of 5 (instead of out of 2), so I actually have my life back. Bon voyage for your next trip,Love,Elizabeth

    Cheers!

    Tina,

I am green with envy again, both for the trip and the wonderful photo.

By now I am sure you will have gotten questions about how one gets into a land-bound marina, seeing as how no exits are visible except one that is filled with dirt!

Be careful in Russia, and give us a call if you are near New Orleans.

    Best,

    Bill and Ellen

    Hello Tina & Braun

I love your Baltic itinerary, 2,000 nm in 8 weeks. We are enjoying the
Med, currently in Greece and heading to Croatia soon. Does this rally
have a facebook page?? We will be with a rally in the Red Sea from Oct
to April with our Nordie. We flew in to London for a wedding in
November and checked out St Katherine’s docks for a future stop with
Starlet on our way to the Baltic. Nice the video clip.
